Stable and Resilient Children
This workshop introduces the steps of the dance of attachment, identifies building blocks of a stable sense of self, and explores the critical role of sensory experiences. Sensory experiences between the caregiver and the child form the foundation of the child's sense of self. The presenter will help participants analyze children's unacceptable behaviors to identify their unmet needs and build necessary skills.

Living with An Angry Child
Adopted children struggling with unresolved loss or poor attachment often exhibit acute episodes of rage and chronic or intermittent patterns of passive-aggressive non compliance. These behaviors can and do trigger angry responses – sometimes even rage – in parents and siblings. This double workshop will analyze anger and rage, and will offer techniques for avoiding continual battles, managing healthy anger resolution, de-escalating rage episodes, and establishing a healthy, joyful family environment.

Therapudic Understanding and Responses to Persistent, Negative Behaviors
Children who have experienced parental loss, neglect, and/or abuse need to experience connections, security, warmth, and belonging to enhance their attachments. Instead, as a byproduct of their irritating and sometimes frightening behaviors, they frequently experience rejection, anger, and the unavailability of their parents. Therapeutic responses to these behaviors must meet the child’s unmet needs, teach new skills, and enhance connections to parents. Participants will learn to identify the child’s unmet needs and design parenting responses to these persistent behavioral problems.
